Harbin Taiping International Airport confirmed 523 takeoffs and landings, accounting for 80,640 passengers on Saturday. The two figures have reached the highest level since the start of the airport's operation, and the passenger volume has entered the era of "80,000", ThePaper reported on Sunday.
As the season of ice and snow begins, tourism to Harbin has been booming and attracted a large number of tourists from both home and abroad. As well as the flow of tourists, people returning home and reuniting with their friends and families, workers and students are also included in the passenger numbers as the aircraft numbers continue to soar while the Spring Festival approaches.
The record of the passenger throughput in the airport has been broken six times in a row in January, with the figures at 74,629 (Jan 14), 74,805 (Jan 21), 75,035 (Jan 23), 78,069 (Jan 24), 78,869 (Jan 26) and 80,640 (Jan 27), said ThePaper citing public data.
The passenger load factor of flights departure from Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Chengdu and Chongqing to Harbin surpassed 90 percent, and part of these flights were full.
In order to satisfy people's traveling demand, the airport has continuously enriched its route network, and actively worked with airlines to increase transportation capacity including augmenting the number of flights from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Chongqing to Harbin, and put into more wide-body aircraft in major departure cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
Currently, the Harbin Taiping International Airport operates about 520 flights per day, with a maximum of 26 flights of wide-body aircraft.
